A slightly "cleaned-up" version of some famous Patton quotes. Altered words or letters are in italics…
No one ever won a war by dying for his country. You win the war, by making the other poor dumb guy die for his country!
War is not about dying for your country. It's about getting the other guy to die for his country.
We are going to kill these Huns by the bushel.
-George Patton
These quotes are appropriate since we as Christians, are part of the church militant. (There is no section "The Church Pacifist" in our hymnals). We are waiting for the time when God makes us part of the church triumphant. We truly are in a spiritual war, which ebbs and flows during our lifetimes.
"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." Ephesians 6:10-13 NKJ
[Jesus speaking] "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. "For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law'; "and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.' He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. "He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it." Matthew 10:34-39 NKJ
