How to Respond to Believers of
Unregenerative Baptism

There are a number of false teachings that do not correspond with the biblical text and which arise out of preconceived and errant readings of the text. This page intends to address some of them. It is by no means exhaustive. It was prompted by the tragic case of a LCMS Lutheran who was deceived by a church that taught Unregenerative Baptism and lead away from the faith of his baptism. This page is intended as a guide for pastors and others who work with those who similarly have fallen into this trap.

This topic is approached with Christian care and concern for those who are deceived in this way. It is not a pleasant task to point out aberrations and ambiguities in materials written by fellow Christians. I pray that those who write these things will see the error of their ways and come to a knowledge of the truth. We do not judge. God's Word judges. Our testimony is not what we have done, but what God has done and said. Do not shoot the messenger.

By far the best source is the book Baptized into God's Family: The Doctrine of Infant Baptism For Today by A. Andrew Das. Northwestern, 1991. It explains the clear Lutheran, historic, Christian, biblical perspective.

Another good source is Good News Magazine Vol.1 #3 available from Concordia Mission Society 1-800-778-1132. This issue was so biblically and historically accurate that some "Christian"church leaders in the Ukraine forbade their people from reading it.
